Remembrance Cover and Trailer Contests!!

OMG! Michelle Madow is hosting 2 contests and the winners will get a Remembrance prize pack, which includes:

1.     One signed copy of Remembrance
2.     One mask that resembles the one on the cover of Remembrance
3.     Three signed Remembrance bookmarks
4.     Two Remembrance stickers

How cool is that??!! And here are the two ways to participate in the contest:

1.     Remembrance cover design contest
In the cover design contest, you will design your own cover for Remembrance. The only requirements for the cover are that it must say Remembrance somewhere, and have Michelle Madow on it. Besides that, have fun with it!

When your cover is completed, email it to michelle@madow.com. She will feature all of the covers in an album on the Remembrance Facebook Page. She will pick her favorite cover designs as finalists, and the winner will be voted on by the fans.

2.      Remembrance trailer contest
In the trailer contest, you will create your own Remembrance book trailer! Once your trailer is completed, upload it onto YouTube and email the link to michelle@madow.com. She will feature all of the trailers in a note on the Remembrance Facebook Page. She will pick her favorites as finalists, and the winner will be voted on by the fans.

I'm so totally participating in this! I'm going to do the first one that is the Cover Design contest. I'm not so good at video editing but I've done much photoshopping before. So I think I can do that. I hope I get the prize! It would be so awesome!!

Here are the rules:

1.     Both contests begin on November 1 and end on November 30.
2.     International

Must Read Monday-1

Fans of Fiction

Must Read Monday is a weekly meme hosted by Jenna at Fans of Fiction. The idea is to create an acrostic poem about a book in the chosen category of the week.

This week's category: Romance

The
Heartbreakingly beautiful story about
Eternal love.

Choosing what's best for
Her. But how when the need is
Overpowering the right choice?
Is killing her right when she's already dead? Or
Choosing to let her live would be selfish? How should I
End this? I love her too much to let her go.........

OK so I actually wanted to choose A Walk To Remember by Nicholas Sparks but that's a pretty long name and I couldn't make an acrostic poem out of it. I'm pathetic at poetry you see =P So I chose my second favorite romantic novel: The Choice by Nicholas Sparks.

Honestly, I don't know how I did. This is my first time participating in this meme (which is pretty awesome and interesting!) and I haven't written an acrostic poem since, like, the fourth grade! So I have no idea if my poem is good or not. Please leave feedback!

Musing Mondays-2

Musing Mondays is a weekly meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading.

This week's musing asks........
Would you say that you read about the same amount now as when you were younger? More? Less? Why?

Ans: I used to read more when I was younger because studies weren't that hard in those days. I could easily take time out to read. But now studying is all I do all day. So it's hard to take out much time for reading.

What about you?

Assessments over!! =D

Today was my last assessment! =D Yaay! I'm free! Which means.......... I have more reading time!! But I still have the result to wait for.............. And I don't think that'll be pretty =/

I saw TVD, TSC, R.L. Stine's The Haunted Hour and Supernatural today! In celebration of me assessments finally ending. You have no idea how long these two weeks have been!! The Haunted Hour is pretty scary! Especially the first episode!

I'm not able to read Peer-e-Kamil so I'm just going to drop it. I'm starting Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Maybe I'll read Peer-e-Kamil after that.......

I have to catch up on my sleep so I'm gonna go get some zzzz....... Take care & stay well read!

Love Hira-XOXO

Follow Friday-2

Follow Friday is a meme hosted by Alison Can Read & Parajunkee.

Q. If you could have dinner with your favorite book character, who would you eat with and what would you serve?

Ans: I would love to have dinner with Jesse from The Mediator series! But he's a ghost so I don't think it matters what I serve as he won't be able to eat.........
It would also be fun to have dinner with Damon from The Vampire Dairies. He has a good sense of humor. Let's just hope I don't become his dinner! ;)

What about you? Which book character would you like to have dinner with?

Musing Mondays-1

Musing Mondays is a meme hosted by Should Be Reading.

This week's musing asks: Do you listen to audiobooks? Why, or why not?

Ans: I listened to most of The Vampire Diaries series on audiobooks and that's the first and last time I did that. While I had fun listening to some parts, in the others I just got lost. I couldn't concentrate and, thus, I didn't understand the story really well. Maybe that's why I don't like the series so much. Because I didn't understand most of the story. So I'd rather read a book than listen to it.

What about you?

Follow Friday

Follow Friday is a meme hosted by Alison Can Read & Parajunkee.

This is a meme started by Parajunkee & hosted by both Alison Can Read & Parajunkee. It's where you answer the weekly question and then link yourself and you go and check out other blog's of your interest. For more information go to the hosts' blogs. I thought to give it a try as it's a great way of meeting other book bloggers. And I love making new friends!

So today question is: What superhero is your alter-ego?

Ans: Ummmm......I'm not much into superheroes. Do vampires count? =P No? OK. Well I remember I used to like Catwoman once. Ooohh and I love X-Men! Wolverine was my favorite! So I guess I'll have to say wolverine. Which superhero do you like??

In My Mailbox-1

In My Mailbox is a meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren and inspired by Bloggers[heart]books.

So I've been thinking of participating in this meme for a really long time. But I didn't get how it worked. Now I think have an idea. So lets begin my first ever IMM......

Lets see.....ok so here are the books I recently got. Kind of my TBR pile. They are not much, just a few. So here goes......I've written the summaries of the books (taken from Goodreads) and my thoughts on the books. (Note: The names of the books are linked to their goodreads pages.)

Summary: Harry's on summer break after completing his first year at the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry, and his aunt, uncle, and cousin are as mean as ever, trying at every turn to keep him from fulfilling his destiny as a wizard. Their efforts to prevent his return to Hogwarts are aided by an unknown force: a mysterious elf who shows up and warns Harry that he must never return to the school. Before departing, the elf performs a bit of mischievous magic that is blamed on Harry. As a result, Harry not only gets a stern warning from Hogwarts for using magic in the "real" world; he is also locked away by his aunt and uncle in a tiny closet beneath the stairs.

Harry is eventually rescued by his classmates and friends, the redheaded Weasleys, but getting back to Hogwarts still proves to be a challenge. When he finally does get there, his troubles quickly multiply. Someone has opened the door to the Chamber of Secrets, releasing a deadly monster with the power to kill. Several classmates turn up petrified, and in addition to trying to puzzle out who the culprit is, Harry finds himself a prime suspect. The truth lies down the end of a trail marked by a magical diary with invisible ink, a ghost who hides inside a toilet, a flying car, a pompous new teacher with a talent for hyperbole, and some ghastly giant spiders. When one of Harry's friends is imprisoned and another is turned to stone, Harry is forced to once again confront his archenemy, the Dark Wizard Voldemort, who has a whole new bag of nasty tricks up his sleeve.

My thoughts: After reading the first book I've been DYING to read the second one! I absolutely L.O.V.E.D  the first book! I so cannot read it! As soon as I finished the first one I rushed to the book store to buy the second one! Can't wait to read it.........

2. Undercover Girl #3. Nightmare by Christine Harris

Summary: Jesse's next move might be her last.
Jesse's latest secret assignment is to infiltrate a sleepover camp and locate two targets. One is a C2 agent working undercover. The other is a camper with "unusual skills" who has been placed at the camp by a vicious group called Nimbus. Jesse knows that the kid she has to find is some kind of threat, but information is scarce. What she uncovers turns out to be larger and more terrifying that she ever could have imagined.

My thoughts: I read the first book in this series a while ago and I loved it! I wanted to read the second book but couldn't find it. So I bought the third book. I'm still in search of the second book (it's hard to find books, where I live) and if I luckily get it somewhere I'm gonna read it first. If not then I'll read the third one.

Summary: PAULO COELHO'S enchanting novel has inspired a devoted following around the world. This story, dazzling in its powerful simplicity and inspiring wisdom, is about an Andalusian shepherd boy named Santiago who travels from his homeland in Spain to the Egyptian desert in search of a treasure buried in the Pyramids. Along the way he meets a Gypsy woman, a man who calls himself king, and an alchemist, all of whom points Santiago in the direction of his quest. No one knows what the treasure is, or if Santiago will be able to surmount the obstacles along the way. But what starts out as a journey to find wordly goods turns into a discovery of the treasure found within. Lush, evocative, and deeply humane, the story of Santiago is an eternal testament to the transformation power of our dreams and the importance of listening to our hearts.

My thoughts: I bought this book for school. My English teacher is a BIG Paulo Coelho fan and I've heard a lot of good things about this book. I'll give it a try soon enough. I did read the first few pages of the book but it didn't get me hooked. Maybe if I read further I'll start liking it......

Summary: When the unconventional Durrell family can no longer endure the damp, gray English climate, they do what any sensible family would do: sell their house and relocate to the sunny Greek isle of Corfu. My Family and Other Animals was intended to embrace the natural history of the island but ended up as a delightful account of Durrell's family's experiences, from the many eccentric hangers-on to the ceaseless procession of puppies, toads, scorpions, geckoes, ladybugs, glowworms, octopuses, bats, and butterflies into their home.

My thoughts: This book was also bought for school. Actually I didn't get it recently. It was bought last year. But I never got around to reading it. Hopefully I'll finish it some day...........

Summary: On the afternoon of September 2, 1993, Greg Mortenson realized that he had failed in his attempt to climb K2, the world's second-highest mountain. But disappointment was the least of his problems. Emaciated, exhausted, thoroughly disoriented, and suffering from edema, his grip on life was loosening. He was taken in and nursed back to health by the impoverished populace of a remote Pakistani village. Grateful, he promised to return someday to build them a school. Three Cups of Tea is the story of that promise and the story of how one man changed the world, one school at a time.

My thoughts: The reason I bought this book was because it was about a place where I live. I've never read anything like that so I wanted to give it a try. Again, this is not a recent buy. It was also bought almost an year ago. But I decided to add it in the IMM anyway.

Hopefully next time I'll have a better set of books. And I'll do a better IMM. I hope I did this meme some justice...........

So what do you have in your mailbox? Comment below or post on your blog and drop the link of the post in comments. I'll be sure to drop by!

School on Saturdays + Monthly Assessments = no reading time =/

This sucks! To make up for the so-called 'dengue holidays' my school will be open on Saturdays too. And on top of that my monthly assessments are starting from Monday. Which mean no reading time! =( And it totally sucks!

Well currently I'm reading Peer-e-Kamil which is a novel in Urdu by Umaira Ahmed. You see, I'm from Pakistan and my native language is Urdu. But usually I read English novels. A lot of people recommended this book to me and my best friend fell so in love with this book that she kind of forced me to read it. I think I'm going to review the book on this blog so I won't say anything about it as yet. I've only gotten through a few pages. The thing is that this book is very long (525 pages) and I hardly get time to read, what with the school work and all. Plus I'm not so fond of Urdu novels so it's pretty hard for me to read it. But I surely will finish it soon after my assessments and then I'll review it for my Urdu readers.

While I'm in the mood of writing (read: talking) today I'll tell you about my school. Particularly about me trying out for the student council and failing bad! At our school we have different houses (like there were in Harry Potter). I'm in the Topaz House. This year I tried out for the vice-president of my house. And guess what.....they kicked me out only after the interview. I didn't even get to make a speech! I guess I'm better at writing than I am at talking. So after I was kicked out of that I tried out for the vice-president of Environment Club. We also have different clubs and societies at our school. I had the interview today and results will be announced on Monday. I don't think I did that well in the interview =/ Well lets see..............

Did anyone watch last night's episode of Vampire Diaries?? Totally EPIC right? I love Delena <3 (as I've mentioned before many times) And last night's episode had such a cute Delena moment at the end! The episode was really a shocker! If you haven't seen it yet, then what are you waiting for?! Totally awesome show and a very awesome episode! I won't spill any spoilers for those of you who haven't seen it yet. Although I will say, here's my favorite scene from last night's episode The Reckoning:

I just saw Pride and Prejudice a few minutes ago. Loved it! A really awesome movie! I thought I wouldn't like Mr Darcy but I loved him! I'm really looking forward to reading the book!

And Keira Knightly was pretty awesome too!

And I've realized that I use the word 'awesome' a lot! Let me see......I've used it........4 times in this post. I guess that's not a lot. Not for this post at least. But I do say awesome a lot! Whenever I have to describe something I like, I say awesome =P

I've gotta go now because Criminal Minds is starting in 2 minutes! So buh bye! Take care! And stay well-read!

XOXO, Hira <3
